Hoppers

Hoppers from ThinkFun is a fun new single player game for ages 5 and up that is just like the classic Peg game you may find at Cracker Barrel, but using a frog and lily pad theme.  It’s a game of strategy and thinking. It strengthens sequential reasoning and  is entirely self-contained for easy storage, making it easy to take anywhere you go.

I originally thought this would be a great game to play in the car on a long road trip to keep the kids occupied, then realized with the way it’s designed, it may not take the bumps and turns well. Despite that-it would still be a great travel game to use while in the hotel room  or waiting at a rest area to keep either the kids, or myself busy.  This game is also great while the kids are napping, or for my daughter when she isn’t tired at nap time, but still needs to have some quiet time. It’s a challenging, fun game.

Because it starts easy and progressively gets harder, it is a great game for both children and adults alike. Children can start at the easy level, and if those are too easy for an adult, they can skip to a harder level.  The harder levels were mind bending enough to keep me interested, and my daughter absolutely loved playing the easier levels all by herself.  I highly recommend this game for anyone, young, old, and in between! It has a level that will interest anyone. AND, if you finish all the levels and want to keep going, you can make your “own” levels  and solve them if you want.

Due to the nature of this game, it helps children with patterns, counting, logic, and  sequential thinking. It is great for kids with learning disabilities when used in a one on one fashion to help with analytical skills. Also, it is good for children with attention issues because it engages their minds and keeps their usually hard to keep attention.

For adults it is equally engaging and fun and is great for those in between moments and free time at night to quiet the mind and help wind down after a long day with the kids or at work.  What is great is if you want to unwind in bed, you can because it is easy to transport because all of the pieces and cards fit snugly inside the board.  I also recommend this game for a quiet game to play at doctor visits or other appointments when waiting in the waiting room or for children while they wait for your appointment to be done. (if it isn’t for them)
