Tapple from USAopoly

Tapple is a fast paced game full of imagination. To play you only need two players-but trust me, the more players you have the more fun it is going to be! You can play in rounds or just by category, on teams or as individuals-the options are limitless! It even has cards that you can create your own categories on.

Tapple reminds me of a mix of different games such as Scattegories and Apples to Apples. (or a couple others)  It is great for any age young or old. My daughter (5) was pretty good at it once she knew what she needed to do. It was also fun to play with my husband to fill the time.  It has the categories and funny answers like Apples to Apples while being fast paced like Scattegories.  It is a real game of wits-for each category each person goes around and thinks of a word that characterizes, is grouped with, or means a specific category using the letters available on the board.

Here’s the twist-you only have 10 seconds to do it, and if you don’t you are out of the game until the next round or game depending on the way you are playing. (rules are for the game-house rules can include for each category etc) Each time a letter is used it is pressed down and can not be used again until the next round.

Ten seconds feels like a lot of time, until you’re down to seven letters and get a category like, “Things at a Party”, and have to get super creative.   When you get down to those last few letters and ideas aren’t so fast anymore, it’s a race against the clock and if you don’t make it, you are out of the game-so think quick!

My hubby and I had a blast playing this game. We kept saying “just one more round!” It was almost an hour later before we quit playing and even then it was just so we could go to bed. The different categories, organized from easy to super hard keep you “on your toes” or the edge of your seat, rather. This game has been great with my five year old daughter too! Although we only play the easy categories, and the game is designed for 8 or older, it has been great at working on letter sounds with her and encouraging her to use her imagination.

I highly recommend this game for any family who wants to spend some quality time, or to pick up for a game night to play with friends.  It is sure to bring excitement to any game night and is a great ice breaker.  So easy, you can play even under candlelight if the light’s go out during a thunder storm. (and it’s battery operated-so totally fits the situation!) Definitely run out and get your own copy-two if you plan large parties-and plan that game night now! 🙂
